It is important because Rama has been called as the Purshotam meaning the best of mankind.

Rama was the eldest of the four sons of King Dashrath and Sita was his wife. Their truthful, dutiful and sincere conduct and behaviour has been recognised as ideal for the mankind, for all times and ages and, for every situation. That is why has acquired importance.
