Where to begin? The sun's energy is what makes life on earth possible. To make the answer simple, the sun gives energy to the plant or microbe. The plane or microbe then is eaten by another critter, thus passing on it's energy. The energy will continue to be passed on until it reaches the end of the food chain. At the end of the food chain the last organism will decompose and the energy cycle will start over again. This is a great field of science to get into!

without it we would freeze and not be able to see etc... Seeing would be another aspect but without life there couldn't be any seeing.
