To the best of my knowledge, it isn't. It is a regular star in a regular galaxy which will regalarly collide with Andromeda in a billion years.

It is unique only in the fact that is is 'our' star. Apart from that it is a perfectly normal G type star on the main sequence. Of which there are many millions. And is also not just any random star its the closest star to are home and mother earth. Its gives us seasons warmth,light,power through are solar systems.
