It isn't, not really. Scientists sometimes call our Sun a "yellow star" to differentiate it from the dimmer red or (even dimmer) brown dwarf stars, or the much larger and brighter blue giants.

But the light from the Sun is as "white" as can be, because it radiates all colors.
