it is important because if it was not tilted there would not be seasons see the earths axis faces the same way all the time each side of the earth (north pole and south pole) are tilted different ways at the same time on toward the sun causing the death of many children and one away from the sun causing winter ( summer solstice and winter solstice) when the earth is in other places in its revolution around the sun it creates fall and spring ( autumnal equinox and vernal equinox) so if it was not tilted it would be spring or fall all of the time i know this because we are learning about this in my science class
