Gravity. The tower is placed high so that gravity will create pressure and force water through pipes without any mechanical assistance.
To give the water potential energy. The water can flow down hill without using pumps.
It creats water pressure. Water flows from a higher place to lower place without a pump using only gravity. Once the water levels are the same you'd need a pump to transfer the remainder of H2O. The higher the start the faster the flow ( until you reach the force of gravity) and thus the better pressure coming to your home and faster the shampoo is rinsed out of your hair.
Water tanks are placed high in the air in order to benefit from gravity in providing water pressure in the water pipes; otherwise, the water pressure must be provided by pumps, which require electrical power to operate. Without the water pressure, you would get a weak stream instead of an invigorating spray from your shower head.
The purpose of water towers is usually to supply water pressure for the distribution of the water, The higher the tower, the higher the pressure. The higher the pressure, the more water you can push through the pipes. Some locations near mountains simply use the pressure of the water in a reservoir located much higher than the community the water is being supplied to. In such areas water towers are relatively uncommon.
because the gravity is used to distribute the water instead of pumps or like the movie the towering inferno filmed in 1974 they can assist in a fire fight
To take advantage of gravity.

Because compressing a gas increases its temperature. The increase in temperature increases the pressure further. By cooling the tank in water the tank can be filled with more air, it's also safer than having a very hot super high pressure tank at the end of the fill.
It will be most efficient if placed at or near the bottom so that convection will move the heated water upwards, warming the water above it as it rises and allowing the colder water to sink downwards towards the coils. If the heating element were placed higher up, the water below would have to warm almost exclusively by conduction which would take much longer.
1 meter high, 1 meter wide, 2 meters long. The tank is only half full of water.
Archimedes principle states that a floating body displaces its own weight of water. The density of the water is fixed so the volume displaced by a floating body is is the same for floating bodies of the same weight. The water level will still be delta h1 as the volume of the block is not relevant to the amount of water displaced.

The century old (1909) overhead steel tank is 1.34041 lakh square feet in area having a depth of 16 feet. It is the largest overhead tank in the world built by the British engineers. The massive water reservoir contains nine million gallons of filtered water and is placed 110 feet above the ground. In those days most of the buildings in the city were two or three storeys high. Besides, it was the first point of city's water supply distribution system. The unique feature of the tank is that no separate pipe lines for filling up and delivery. The pipe that fills the tank also used for delivery. Hence, the overhead tank serves role of balancing tank. When underground tank at Tallah is spilled over with the incoming supply from Pulta water works( 24 km upstream of Calcutta) the surplus water is stored in the overhead tank and again when the water level in the underground tank dwindles it compensates the for the loss due to distribution. It seems to be that in order to add pressure to the gravitational flow of the water the overhead tank was placed at a height.

If the object hsa sunk the volume is equal to the volume of water displaced If the tank is 50 cm high, the volume is 150x100x (36.2-30) = 93000 cubic centimeters
As high as the highest setting available on the tank.
In the incoming water line from well, before pressure tank.

A boiler functions by boiling water to a steam, which rises upwards. Keeping the hot water tank above the boiler helps keep the hot water hot, as well as allowing the steam to carry itself to the tank, instead of the hot water tank producing steam feeding back into the boiler.
