Climate change is happening globally, affecting every region of the world. However, some areas are experiencing more noticeable impacts such as coastal regions, polar areas, and islands due to rising sea levels. Other regions are facing challenges like more frequent extreme weather events, droughts, and heatwaves.
Extreme weather events, such as hurricanes, droughts, and floods, can have devastating effects on world regions by disrupting local economies, displacing populations, and damaging infrastructure. Agricultural systems often suffer, leading to food shortages and increased prices, which can exacerbate poverty and inequality. Additionally, extreme weather can strain emergency services and healthcare systems, increasing vulnerability to diseases and injuries. The long-term impact may include shifts in migration patterns and increased political instability as communities struggle to recover.

Last year (2012), for example, was the hottest year on record in the US. Other effects Mississippi experiences are more violent storms. Storm frequency itself has not increased, just the energy of gulf storms, due to warmer seas.
