That's supposedly the year that the world will end and Planet X will move in front of the sun. I don't believe it though because the end of the world has been theorized before, even in the year 2000 and we are still alive.
The Mayan pyramids were important to the Mayans because it was part of their religion
I personally don't believe that the world will end in 2012. Some people say that because the Mayan calendar ends in 2012, however, the ancient Mayan race is extinct and so cannot continue thier calendar for obvious reasons.
2012 was the end of the Mayan calendar so it was seen as the end of time and the world
The special significance of the year 2012, which is, of course, the next year after this one (as I type) is that the calendar used by the ancient Mayan civilization ended at the equivalent of the year 2012 (although of course that year was not assigned the same number by the Mayans, who were not Christians and who did not count years starting with the birth of Jesus). Many people have wondered why the Mayan calendar ended in 2012, and one speculation is that the Mayan calendar ended in 2012 because the Mayans knew that life on Earth would not continue past that year. However, this is a very wild hypothesis which is not particularly believable. There is no good reason to think that 2012 is the year that life (or perhaps just the human race) will end on Earth, and there is also no good reason to think that the ancient Mayans had some secret knowledge of the future that we do not have in the 21st century. It is more likely that the reason that the Mayan calendar ended in 2012 is that, at the time that calendar was made, 2012 was so far in the future that there didn't really seem to be any need to make plans past that date.
Nobody The time passed over an hour ago So it never happened
The fact that the Mayan calendar ended is doesn't mean the world would end. Every year our calendars end in December, but no one thinks the world will end. So, it was the same with the Mayan calendar . Modern man read into it with his own interpretation , but it was wrong.
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In about 6 billion years though according to scientists. the Mayan Calender suggests it will end on 21st December 2012.However the Mayan calendar ended for the Mayan people about 500 years ago. so if you are worried don't believe the Mayan calender!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also don't believe in the Mayan calender.
so we could read if its the end of the world or not
On the Mayan calender, it shows whether the world will end in 2012, so it would be on a wends-day
The problem with the theory on this is modern man is reading into it. Every year our calendars end with the new year, and so it was the same with the Mayan calendar . It just ended. Had their civilization lived further there would have been a new calendar .
On dec 21, 2012 the Mayan calendar ends and so the thought is that the world as we know it will also end ie : that's when the polar shifts are supposed to take place...check out 2012.com
I don't believe so. Just because the Mayan calendar ended there, doesn't mean anything.
