Numbers are used to categorize courses. 101 typically indicates that it is the first class in a subject. 100 level courses are usually freshman level.
Many basic prerequisite college/school courses are entitiled "(course name) 101". Other courses that one would take at the same time may be titled "102", "103", etc. After taking "100" level courses, one progresses to "200" level courses. This numbering system allows for up to 99 courses in each diffculty level. When someone uses a phrase, i.e. "blogging 101", they are referring to basic principles for that subject that would be taught in a preliminary course.

You do not capitalize science fiction. If you look any word up in the dictionary, you will learn if it should be capitalized. The rule: Capitalize names of courses: Economics, Biology 101. (However, we would write: "I'm taking courses in biology and science fiction this summer.")
Usually 100 level courses are introductory courses. On the other hand,Ê200 level courses are generally considered to be intermediate level.

When universities use a three-digit system of numbering courses, the easiest course would usually have the first number in the range, or "101". So basically, if something is followed by "101" it means it is for beginners.
