The solenoid that activates the stater motor is of a type that engages the starter gear first (by means of a activation rod), then applies the current to the starter motor. This sequence causes the slight delay. Other starters simply apply the current directly to the starter (via the solenoid) which instantly starts the motor spinning, this spinning (through a spiral cut into the shaft) throws the starter gear along the shaft to engage with the teeth on the flywheel. This type has no delay as the motor doesn't wait for the solenoid to manually engage the stare gear; it is the spinning that engages the gear. Forgive me if I'm not using the correct names. I'm not a mechanic, but I have dismantled a 200sx to fix it (which I did) and discovered this arrangement inside the solenoid; which is different to what I am used to.
First you must start by removing the entire ignition, itself, on the Nissan 200SX. It should be fairly easy, you will just need the correct tools. Once you have bought the new ignition switch, attach it to the ignition and then re-install the ignition into the Nissan 200SX.
Same problem... ticking eventually goes away and it starts. Need a new computer.
I found out years ago when i had a nissan 200sx my gas started getting into the oil and i changed the fuel pressure regulator and that solved the problem.Good luck
your key wont start your 200sx there are 2 common reasons for that first use your key to lock and unlock your drivers door. Just in case the stock alarm was some how triggered this will deactivate it. Then try to start it if still not working you should take the key to the local hardware store and have a duplicate key made that should fix your problems.
you cant edit: In order to start any manual transmission car, the clutch must be fully depressed.
HmmmmmBad Wire? It could be because your ignitation switch is bad and all you are doing is bypassing the signal from the ignation to the starter
It may depend on how you wish to construct your sentence. The delay of the start or the start has been delayed.
did you ever fix the problem ,i have the same problem
Start with your owners manual. Mine say's, "push to the right (your left) and pull toward you". That worked for me. Be mindful of the wire connection. It is very short. Press in and unplug.
You either have a low battery or your terminals need cleaned
Reset flashing air bag lightI read this on the Nissan Forums and I tired it on my 1996 Nissan 200sx. Well I'll be damned! It works. I hear it works on B14's and Altimas of that vintage too!Open driver doorGet inShut doorTurn ignition to the on position The one that will go all the way, but not to start car)Open doorPress the door ajar sensor button thing (7) timesShut door (as quickly as you can!!)Start your car.....You gotta do it a few times to get it right. The faster you do it the more chances it has to reset. If you do it too slow it will seem like it does not work. Make sure you take out the key first before you start the process. Let me know how it turns out.Sherry B.
