Why does red melted ice cubes stay on top of salt water?

It's not the color that is significant, its the fresh water that the ice cubes were made with. Salt water is heavier than fresh water so the fresh water floats a top the salt water.

Why does the string stick to the ice when you put salt on it?

The salt temporarily melts the ice. The melted water flows over the string. The water refreezes on top of the string.

Can you use ocean water in swimming pool to top it up?

It is not recommended to use salt water to top up your pool even if you are using an salt chlorine generator. The average salt content in a "salt pool" is between 2500-4500 parts per million (ppm) and should remain in this level range constantly. The salt content of seawater is 35,000. If you added a significant amount of salt water, you would be raising the salt content to unsafe levels that would cause corrosion and staining. If you are using regular chlorine to sanitize your pool it's still not recommended because you will still be introducing very high levels of salt to your pool chemistry that would lead to the same problems.I hope this helps. When you add salt to ice what happens to the melting point of the ice?

Adding salt to ice decreases its melting point. Adding salt to the top of ice helps melt the ice faster.

What should you add to a salt water pool besides salt to keep the pool at top condition?

I assume that you understand that 'salt' alone will do nothing for your pool and that you require the Saline System equipment. Salt is added initially andthereafter only top up salt is required (maybe a couple of 50 pound bags per year, on average). A saline pool requires everything that any other pool requires, with ONE EXCEPTION. The saline system will produce the sanitizer, so you do not need to add any sanitizing/oxidizing chemicals such as 'pool chlorine', algaecide or 'shock' chemicals. Everything else is the same and must be maintained as per normal pool care recommendations (pH, alkalinity, conditioner, calcium hardness etc). A salt water pool converts the salt in the pool electronically to produce chlorine gas which is then dissolved into the water, so aside from making sure the salt content in the pool is OK the treatment is about the same. Except you don't have to put chlorine in

Will add salt to ice water help keep soda cold?

Yes, it will keep the soda cold because the salt help the ice not to melt. Don't believe me check it yourself. Get an ice cube put a little salt on it and it doest melt. Or get an ice cube put some salt on it and then get a string put on top and IT WILL STICK!!!!!!!

On a monthly basis how much top-up salt should be added to a saline system swimming pool of approximately 75000 liters?

This would vary on conditions for e.g if the pool overflows because of rain more salt needs to be added the amount of water lost through backwashing is another reason. Evaporation is not a problem as this leaves the salt behind in the pool. a salt tester for the water is required to work out the amount of salt needed. these are available from pool shops. B T W you should not have to add salt to the pool on a monthly basis if you have done the job correctly to begin with.

Can seawater be used to fill or top up a swimming pool?

Not recommended to do this. Water is very high concentrated in salt and other algae, and phosphates.

What happen to the temperature of ice when add some salt?

The salt does not alter the temperature of the snow, but gets into the structure of the ice crystals, causing the water (ice remember is frozen water and snow is ice) to have a lower freezing point.

How do you do the ice and salt challenge?

You take a ice cube and some salt. First pour some salt on your arm and then put the ice cube on top and let it sit there for about 45 seconds. You will feel the burn.
