The reason some teenagers experience identity crises is because at the adolescent age, a child turns into an adult. Changing from a child into an adult is a change in all aspects of a person's life. The biggest change is in the mind. A child starts to think very differently than when he was a year younger. In fact, you can say that the child BEGINS thinking. The child can start doubting everything he thought up until now. He or she may start to disagree on their parents' outlook in life. The teenager may find a different style of life appealing. In many cases, the child is simply left confused and unsure, which leads the child to an identity crisis.
