Understand that your circularory system is like a highway that moves in circles and the blood has to flow in those "circles" to deliver it's cargo. Otherwise, things would be dropped off to the wrong customer.

Blood actually flows two ways:

1. away from the heart -- in the arteries

2. towards the heart -- in the veins

The blood that flows away from the heart is oxygenated blood. The blood that flows towards the heart is de-oxygenated blood
