Ultrasound is used to 'image' things inside the body. Seems to me that it may have
relatively low resolution, but it's often plenty good enough without the more invasive
imaging techniques that need to use radiation.

Examples of imaging methods with radiation:

X-ray, CT scan, MRI, PET scan.

Examples of when you want to take the picture without radiation if you can:

Pictures of the brain, reproductive organs, unborn baby
