In a hypotonic solution, a cell without walls could become lysed (ripped open) because the water inside the cell forces its way outside the cell, however, a cell with walls would thrive in a hypotonic solution because its wall would prevent water from breaking the cell, as a result, the cell would become turgid, a state of being pressurized, which is really good for the cell because it supports structure and makes the cell stronger and more healthy.
