ruptured heater core
genarally needs topping up with water ?????
Is it blood, oil, water, or urine?
Pour a bucket of water into the passenger footwell
COULD BE PLUGED DRAIN
For the radiator only, 2 to 3 quarts. For the complete cooling system, 8 to 9 quarts.
chek the passenger side for water under the carpet
more than likely the heater core is leaking
I had a similar problem with my Passat. The back seat floorboard was soaked. Found out that the seal on the Moon Roof was not functioning properly and the water leaked down through the door on the floorboard. Volkswagen fixed it immediately. They told me it was a common problem. Good luck.
The radiator is located in the front of the engine compartment. The water tank reservoir is mounted to the firewall on the passenger side of the engine compartment.
For the window washers, in between the battery compartment and the passenger headlight, for the radiator, at the back of the engine compartment just off center towards passenger side.
You have a leaking Volkswagen heater core. Working much like a small engine radiator, the Volkswagen heater core provides heat to the passenger compartment on cold days by circulating warm engine coolant through its tubes. You're simply using the Volkswagen heater core to extract heat that was going to be radiated to the outside air anyway. The construction of the Volkswagen heater core means that it's going to go bad someday, since copper and aluminum don't last forever. To make matters worse, the Volkswagen heater core is located inside your car. That means you have a potential source of hot water sitting just inches from your legs. The might be pinhole leaks, cracks in the tubing, and other minor maladies. You'll have to replace the Volkswagen heater core if you don't want your floorpans to rust out.
If you mean the engine coolant reservoir it's in the engine compartment on the passenger side ( it's the compartment towards the front of the vehicle ) If you mean the windshield washer fluid reservoir ( which also supplies the rear liftgate ) it's in the engine compartment on the passenger side ( it's the compartment towards the rear of the vehicle )
