The main reason for the cold weather is High Pressure. High Pressure in the summer cuases Sunny skys and Hot temperatures, in the winter high pressure cuases frost as when its night there is no clouds to trap in the heat therefore it cools the earth. Frost is formed when it is cool and water freezes on the ground etc. (That last bit i thought was interesting) :)

Mostly the wind effects UK weather because if its blowing in a certain direction then the UK can get colder or hotter. For example if the wind is blowing from iceland then we get cold winter type weather...

the UK has no glaciers because it takes so long to make one and you need really cold weather all year round and the UK gets really hot.
