Best Answer

They shot the defensless animal full of harpoons and then they kill it.

edit:

Actually the shooting the animals typically kills them in one shot. Whales are not completely defenseless either, they can do considerable damage to medium sized boats by surfacing and landing on the vessel. It is no more cruel than how cows are slaughtered. Usually it's a near instantaneous kill, hardly ever requiring more than a single blow.

It is inhumane to kill whales because whales are endangered, I believe if whales were 'not' endangered, humans would hunt whales for food...

but since whales are endangered, we must protect the species from extinction

Is whaling banned in Antarctica?

Commercial Whaling has been banned since 1986 by the International Whaling commission. However, scientific whaling is allowed to strict quotas.

Why do people want whaling banned?

There are 2 main reasons: 1. Animal welfare: Many animal activists state that whaling is cruel, as it can take up to an hour for a whale to die after being harpooned. 2. Environmentalism: Since many whales are endangered and cannot be mass produced, hunting certain species of whales can hurt the environment badly.
