The majority of verb conjugations are irregular in the English language, it's just something you've got to deal with when either learning or speaking the language.

The major rule would be to add an '-ed' on the end of the verb, e.g. "I played" or "I produced". A large amount of verbs are irregular in their past tense, e.g. "I wrote" (Not "I writed") or "I read" (Not "I readed").

There are very few patterns and it just takes time to learn all of these irregular past tenses.
