It sure sounds like your clutch is done
Can be a throw out bearing in the clutch assembly going bad.
With just that to go on I would say that your clutch release bearing is going bad especially if the noise quits when you put pressure on the clutch
Clutch needs adjusting or the synchronizers are going bad.Clutch needs adjusting or the synchronizers are going bad.
I would say it's a slipping clutch
it may bind when using the clutch, it will squeal when not using the clutch, and stop when you do. You may also feel or hear a constant grinding like noise, this is the bearings going bad.
Worn syncros, lack of lubricant, clutch adjustment,
no, but if you are burning your clutch i recommend having someone teach you how to drive a standard, you should never burn your clutch unless you are going up a very steep incline where you can't let it out quickly
I got approx. 168,000 miles and 8 years out of my 2002 clutch. I do most of my driving on the highway. Clue that it is going bad....clutch pedal gets harder to push in. When that starts happening start getting quotes because - as I learned - when its done it is done!
The transmission doesn't lose power, but it quits getting power if the clutch starts slipping. Without going into detail about the physics of a clutch, the most energy is being transferred through the clutch when in the highest gear thus it is fifth gear where slipping is first noticed. My guess is its time for a new clutch.
clutch slave cylinder.
A: How many people are going to fall for that? NO SUCH THING AS A 1996 WRANGLER !!!!!
Slipping of the clutch and a peculiar smell are the first signs of a clutch that is worn out.
