they have hydrulic lifter in the rocker assy try running some lifter free in your motor other wise you'll have to pull the valve cover then the rocker arm assy its a 24 valve single cam duel shift set up when you take it aprat make sure you use a little assembly lube on the oil hole side of the lifter to help keep it from falling out while putting it all back together the curved portion goes directly on the valve head. MItz had this problem on most there over head cam motors
No , the 2.4 liter engine in a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant ( IS ) an interference engine
how to change fuel pump on mitsibishi galant 2005 2.4 liter
which engines? 1.8,2.0,2.4,3.0 liter ?
not behind the bell housing ?
The 2.4 liter - 4 cylinder and the 3.0 liter - V6 engines in a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant are both INTERFERENCE ENGINES , according to Gates ( they make timing belts etc . )
Both the 2.4 liter 4 cylinder and the 3.0 liter V6 engines use a timing BELT
The Mitsubishi Galant Super Saloon is very economic on fuel. A Super Saloon with a V4 engine gets 12 to 13 km per liter.
Usually it's the lifters in the engine making that noise until they become fully pressurized with oil, then they stop ticking, like on the 3 liter caravans.
Is behind the front board, right behind the stereo
You did not indicate the year your Galant 3.0L was produced. I looked up a 2001 model Galant LS 3.0L, and yes, it is an interference engine. Replace the timing belt AND water pump every 100,000 miles or kiss the valves goodbye.
24 valve 2.0 litre
I was told that the bottom end of a 2.4 liter galant motor can be put in the turbo models as for the non-turbos I have no idea
