Why is your computer asking you to format a memory stick that has been used on it before and on which lots of work is saved?

It could be because you have corrupted files on it. Try using it on a different computer if you have one. If it works on a separate computer, just move all of the files off of it, format it on the computer it doesn't work with and then just move the files back onto it. This has happened to me before and that seemed to do the trick.
