the crested gecko has a clear membrane called a brine. This brine allows them to have their eyes fixated at all times. Living in a tropical envoirenment, the crested gecko is exposed to rain daily and the rain is able to slide off the brine. This also allows the gecko to have a view of it's surroundings at all times. Because the crested gecko is an semi aboreal species, they do not need to dig into soil often. Most gecko species with eyelids are able to close their eyes while burrowing.
Crested geckos are a nocturnal species of gecko and do not require UVB lighting as a duirnal species of gecko would. A crested gecko can still use one but it is not required. Excessive exposure with nocturnal species to UVB can cause other health concerns, be sure that the animal has many places to hide and will not always be exposed to the light all day long.

Not the best idea to put a full berry in the encloser. Mash,Grind or puree the fruits to a mush. The simple answer is it depends. If they are diurnal - they sleep at night, if they are nocturnal (eg. crested gecko) they will sleep through the day. It all depends on the species of Gecko.
