Bettas naturally have a round tummy. If your does look extra chubby she could be full of ova (eggs). If you don't breed her, her body will reabsorb the eggs after a while.

What fish don't fight with Siamese fighting fish?

Can bettas mate in a betta keeper?

Well Betta breeding is tricky, some betta keepers are "ok" but others are NOT, your betta keeper must have a seperater to separate the male from the female. You must do this so the male can get use to the look of the female.. After 1-2 days put the female in with the male.. And watch them, if they fight then you will have to separate them again.

How do you take care or 300 betta fish babies?

Can you put a female and male Betta fish in the same tank or bowl or will they fight to death?

It's best to only put male and female betta fish in the same tank/bowl if you are breeding them. If they are not breeding and they still stay in the same area, the male would most likely attack the female, so keep the female away! Also, if you are breeding betta fish, make sure to remove the female betta after she lays her eggs, as the male will care for them and chase the female away.

Can betta fish live with other betta fish for a long period of time?

Only female Bettas can be kept together. That too will only work if they are given reasonably roomy conditions and plenty of cover (plants) and hidey holes. Male betta fish can/ will fight to death if there is another male fish in the tank, a male will sometimes eat a female so your best bet is to have a single betta or a female and a female.

How do you tell apart a female beta and a male plakat?

The male Plakat is still a male Betta splendens (although its fins are not as showy) so it will display when shown itself in a mirror. A female Betta will not display.

What can kill a female Betta fish?

How big can a Betta get when not pregnant?

Bettas are egg layers so they do not get pregnant. A female Betta splendens will grow to around 1.5 to 1.75 inches and a male about 2 to 2.5 inches.

Can one girl betta and one boy betta be put in the same one gallon tank?

The male will kill the female after he spawns her. If she won't spawn he will still kill her. No male Betta will allow another Betta (male or female) to live in its vicinity. So the answer is NO.
