What is it when a cooker oven does not work but grill and plates do?

Most ranges that have plates with them are in fact two separate parts. It is possible that the oven part of your range has stopped working for any number of reasons.
It would be best to consult the owners manual for you're particular brand and model to see if the oven and range are in fact separate components. If they are then most likely the problem is just within the oven portion of your range.
There are many reasons why a range oven may stop working. The following is just a few:
A. Lost voltage either to the oven control or from the control to the oven
B. A bad thermostat
C. A short somewhere in the wiring
D. (In gas ranges) A bad starter
In any of these cases it would be best to contact a certified technician. As that doing work on it yourself could void warranties.
