there is a switch on the frame of the car under the dash where the brake pedal when moved will engage this simple push swith (much like a refigerator door light switch ) they sometimes become bent and do not relax completely so check this out... good luck
Take a riding lawnmower, and add brake lights and turning signals
The part of the car that turns on the brake lights when you apply pressure to the brake pedal is called the brake switch. Releasing pressure from the pedal causes the brake switch to break its electrical contact, turning off the lights.
The flasher unit for the indicators. Pressing and releasing the foot brake for the brake lights. Turning the light switch on and of for the others. If it is not any of these then there is an electrical fault, possibly a loose connection.
brakelight switch, it is located under the steering column, and above the brake pedal where it connects to the car there is a little plunger switch up there.
they are not brake lights they are fog lights and they turn on because it is for the car behind to see you
What about them? Update?
Um... Aren't all brake lights in the back of a car?
check your brake fluid level under the hood. This may be true if the brake light is in the dash . If the light your talking about is the actual brake lights on the rear of the car you probablly have a short in the steering column
Have you checked all the lights? Reverse lights, tail lights and brake lights?
There is a shifter interlock switch on the brake pedal which also controls the brake lights
in my 95 ciera the brake indicator switch was slightly out of alignment causing lights to stay on when in the relased position. i had to remove the wire harnes from the switch and turn it two complete turns in towards the brake arm. turning it too far will cause problems with the cruise control.
On the back of a car there are tail lights, turn signals, and brake lights. Cars also have back up lights that tell people when the car is in reverse.
