Why isn't space black?

Space isn't any color, because space isn't any thing. So when you look at space, you see the absence of color, which is what we call black.

This is because your eyes can't see in the microwave region of the spectrum. Space is actually filled with very thin gas, which is not at absolute zero (if it were, it would really be black) but at about 3 K. This makes it emit radiation in the microwave band.
