What channel does your samsung tv need to be on to watch your dish network?

The channel your TV would need to be on to watch the DISH Network programming would be dependent upon how you have the receiver connected to the TV, for ex are you using an HDMI cable, CO axle cables, or an RCA cable? If you're using an HDMI cable then generally you would need to have your TV on the HDMI 1 or HDMI 2 input, if you're using CO axle then it would most likely be channel 3 or 4, and if you're using RCA then it is generally input video 1 or 2 or composite.

Why is there no channel one on TV?

When the U.S. Federal Communications Commission initially allocated broadcast television frequencies (after the first post-WWII telecommunications conferences formally allocated TV frequencies in 1945-1946), channel 1 was logically the first channel. In 1945, the FCC decided to reserve channel 1 for low-power community television stations, and moved existing channel 1 stations to higher frequencies. The FCC in 1948 formally changed the rules on TV band allocations based on propagation knowledge gained during the era of shared-user allocations. The 44~50MHz band used by Channel 1 was replaced by lower-power narrowband users. Channel 1 was reassigned to: * fixed and mobile services (44-50 MHz) Rather than renumber the TV channel table, it was decided to merely remove Channel 1 from the table. In the 1990s, it was decided that digital television would be limited to the channels between 2 and 51, so that another 18 channels (from 698 to 806 MHz) could be auctioned and given to DAB radio or emergency services such as police radios. Renumbering in this case is not relevant, as virtual channels maintain the original TV station brand number, despite actually transmitting on another channel. Digital cable subscribers in many areas, such as those serviced by Comcast, can find video on demand content at Channel 1. Cable subscribers in the New York area receive the channel NY1 on channel one, served by Time Warner Cable and Cablevision. In Europe, other recently abandoned TV channels are being used for DAB digital radio, in VHF band III. Japanese public broadcaster NHK General TV broadcasts on Channel 1 in Tokyo and other cities.

How do you switch the cable tv connection from one line in your home to another?

The most common problem in this kind of sharing is both TV's will be receiving the same signal from the cable tv box, meaning u can only watch 1 channel at a time on the same TVs, and it depends on the cable tv box. However, a splitter can solve the problem only if there is another similar cable tv box for the other tv. The line has to be " Y " split before it gets into the boxes.

Why do VCR and other video equip give you the option of channel 3 or 4.?

Because in the OLDEN days the connections between the VCR and the TV or Cable Box was thru the Coax Connection which went straight to the TUNER Section. You tune your TV to Channel 3 and use the VCR or the Cable remote (&/or tuner section) to select the channel you wanted to watch. Most all of the connection diagrams had ALL of your devices hooked up in Series (1) Cable Box --> (2) VCR --> TV. Today there are different types of LINE IN (or Input Selector) inputs which allow for selecting different devices.

How can you connect a second tv to 1 cable box?

You can connect a second tv to 1 cable box by purchasing a video distribution amp (VDA) I think the smallest one you can buy is 1 input ( cable box connection ) 4 outputs ( 4 TV Connections. ) The only catch is that you have to watch the same channel on both TV's. VDA's are easy to hook up and relatively inexpensive, you can probably find one for less than $80 maybe even cheaper depending what type of connection you desire... RCI
