There is little gravity in space to hold the gas particles so they disperse infinitely.

Earth has an atmosphere due to its gravitational pull whereas the moon has virtually no atmosphere.

Why cant people breathe in space?

People can't breathe in space because there is no air to breathe. Space is a vacuum, which means it lacks the necessary gases like oxygen that humans need to survive. Without air, humans would not be able to extract oxygen from the environment to support their bodily functions, leading to suffocation.

What is the difference between atmosphere and space?

The atmosphere is the layer of gases surrounding Earth that is held in place by gravity and provides the air we breathe. Space, on the other hand, is the vast expanse beyond Earth's atmosphere where there is a near-vacuum environment and little to no air. It is where celestial bodies like stars and planets exist.

Why isn't convection responsible for heat to earth from the sun?

Convection is not responsible for heat transfer from the sun to Earth because space is a vacuum, which means it lacks a medium for convection to occur. Instead, heat from the sun reaches Earth through electromagnetic radiation, primarily in the form of sunlight. This radiation travels through the vacuum of space and is absorbed by the Earth's atmosphere, land, and oceans, where it warms the planet.

Has there been air samples taken from space?

There have not been any air samples taken from space because there is no air in space. Space is vast and there are always particles (usually hydrogen and helium) floating around. However, there is so few particles relative to the vastness of space, that taking samples of the "air" wouldn't accomplish much.
