Why it it necessary to change models as new info becomes available?

If you have old infomation the model with be inacurate because you need new information to make it to where the model is accurate if you have a model where the information is not there how could you get the right answer.

∙ 15y agoI presume you are talking about scientific models.
In science you make observations and come up with a model to describe the observations. Your model needs to be able to make predictions that can then be tested. The more results you get that don't disagree with your prediction then the more confidense we have in the model. However, and this is the really interesting part, if you the experiment doesn't agree with your model then you have to change your model in order to incorporate the new observations.
A good example of this is newtons laws of motion. They predict how bodies move incredibly accuratley and were for two hundred years there was no evidence of motion that they could not describe. How ever there were observations of the orbit of Mercury that they couldn't acuratley describe. The model needed to be updated and then Eistein came along with the general theory of relativity that explains everthing that newtons model described and the new observations of mercury.
This is how science moves forward. Scientists are interested in the bits that we don't understand and our current models cannot explain. This is how scientific knowledge progresses.
