On a 1998 Cadillac DeVille, the left bank refers to the set of cylinders on the driver's side of the engine. In a V8 engine configuration, this typically includes cylinders 1, 3, 5, and 7. If you're looking for specific components or parts related to the left bank, such as the fuel injector or spark plugs, they will be located on that side of the engine.

Back bank left to right, 1,3,5. Front bank left to right, 2,4,6.
The 2008 Cadillac STS is equipped with a 4.6L V8 engine that has two timing chains. One chain drives the camshaft for the left bank of cylinders, while the other drives the camshaft for the right bank. These chains are designed for durability and typically do not require regular replacement like timing belts.
