Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics for ages was condemned by the catholic church as barbarian. After translation in Latin and use by not-native Latin speakers it was Thomas Aquinas who realized that Aristotle's writings fitted his idea of god.

Conclusion, Aristotle encouraged use of logic and deserves credit for it.
