The definition of machine is anything that aids the human being to do work. A block and tackle is a machine that humans operate. If we did not have machines, the weight of any type of work would depend on the individual strength of the person.

The machine enables an average person to do the work of more than one person. In this age of industrialization, it is important to have trained labor to operate machines in order to increase productivity, reduce costs, and have higher wages.

If the machine were not available, goods would be out of reach for most individuals. Machines, from the simple to the complex, enable humans to work more efficiently and with less effort. Since the paradigm of less effort and more work equals greater output, the society gains leisure time and greater profits. This equates to a higher standard of living and greater availability of goods, thus raising the standard of living for most of the society.

From planting crops to complex assembly, machines aid humans in their work and make the work easier. Anything that makes work easier increases productivity and decreases production costs. Therefore, the machine is a good invention.
