Because we live in a time where everything is catered to "you" to make "your" life better, and do enable "you" to do what you want to do - often disregarding others around you. We alos make a huge deal about possessions, earning your own money to buy posessions so you can look good. But Narcissism is more than that, it is more than than a sign of the times, it is also a mental health problem and nneds to be dealt with.
