Anything from being a glitch in the program, to corrupt/deleted/missing media, not saving properly or a need for Automatic updating of the WMM software can prevent you from opening an existing project.

And that goes for all versions of WMM.

Previous to that Windows 2000 was version 5 and Windows NT 4.0 was version 4, which was preceded by Windows 3.1x, Windows 3, Windows 2.1x, Windows 2 and Windows 1, the original Microsoft Windows Operating System. Windows 95, 98, and ME were part of a different code base. It's also shown from the build number, Windows 7 has builds from 7000 onwards. At its core, Windows 7 is technically version 6.1, as you can see in this table: Windows 2000 - Version 5.0 Windows XP - Version 5.1 Windows Vista - Version 6.0 Windows 7 - Version 6.1 The reason for this is that XP and 7 were, respectively, only minor updates to their previous versions. 2000 and Vista, on the other hand, were such massive updates that they warranted full new version numbers.

Windows XP is still by far the most used version of Windows.
