Leviticus 11: Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron, tell the Israelites.... and in v 7-8: "7 You will regard the pig as unclean, though it has a cloven hoof, divided into two parts, it is not a ruminant. 8 You will not eat the meat of these or touch their dead bodies; you will regard them as unclean." Basically because pigs don't chew the cud. More realistically, pig meat didn't keep well in the mediterranian/middle eastern climate and carried some interesting bacteria/micro-organisms that could make people seriously ill or kill them. What better way to protect people than convince them God banned the practice.

∙ 14y agoCAPITALIZE JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In the Old Testament, Godcommanded the Israelites NOT to eat pork, it was still a law in Jesus' time so that is why Jesus did not eat pork!
