The Bible is the word of God:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John1.1)

For instance; here is one of his sayings on worship:
"the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him." ( John 4.23)
Roman Catholic AnswerThe Catholic religion is not based on the Bible, the Bible is based on the Catholic religion. The Bible, as we have it now, was not written until approximately the third generation after Our Blessed Lord died and ascended into heaven. It was not put together until the fourth and fifth centuries - over four hundred years after Our Blessed Lord left this earth. However, He left us His Church to guide us into all truth, and those people certainly worshipped God properly. So the short answer is that the Bible is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproving, for correcting, for instructing in justice (2 Tim 3:16) BUT it is not necessary, that would be the Church: "...Church of the living God, the pillar and mainstay of the truth" (1 Tim 3:15b).I wouldn't say you need to know the Bible inside out, but knowing key events can help you worship God. For example, on Christmas day - the day where Jesus was born - you're supposed to pray to God and thank him for the coming of Jesus. If you didn't know that he was born then, you wouldn't thank God for him. I wouldn't say that means you're not doing it properly, but some would.
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. King James Version.

All those having spiritual insight worship God "with spirit and truth." (John 4:24) They strive to display Christlike qualities. And for our worship to be acceptable to God, it must conform to the truth revealed in the pages of the Bible and it must be guided by the holy spirit.

this is how Jesus answered the question of where we should worship 21Jesus declared, "Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." John 4
