The reason is actually more practical than it is religious. Shoes are taken off to keep the floors and carpets clean, which Muslims pray on. When praying outside, for example, one can keep his/her shoes on.
It's for the muslims to take their shoes off as it is respect to be in a mosque without shoes.
because when you enter a mosque it is clean. And when you pray you have to take your shoes off because the holy prophet muhammed was wearing his shoes when he was praying and then angel gabriel came to him during his prayer and told him that you have to take your shoes off and he did.He did this because you walk on unclean ground and when you pray in the mosque you must be clean.:]
take off your shoes and wash
No eating or drinking is allowed except for breaking fast. No worldly gossip is to be done and no business deals are to be fixed. No music is to be played. No one is allowed to sleep except in Ramadan. No women in menstruation are allowed to enter. Shoes must be taken off, and one must wash their hands and feet before entering.
The mosques is an extremely sacred place for the Muslims. It is meant for worship of Almighty Allah, learning or reciting of the Qur'an, or remembrance of Almighty God. The Muslims keep it neat and clean. The Muslims come to pray, but they have to do ablution (wash their hands, mouths, nose, feet etc) before offering prayers. That is the purpose of washing area. It is NOT a part of the mosque. Shoe racks are for placing shoes as they may be dirty. Racks should be placed out of the Mosque Room.
they are not ... if u mean why do Muslims take their shoes off before entering the mosque ( masjid ) then that's just because a mosque is the house of god and it should be respected and kept clean .. so u shouldn't walk with ur shoes on into the mosque to bcoz u step on all sorts of stuff in the street and u shouldn't drag them into the mosque and it's also a sign of respect to the place..and Allah knows best
yes they do -------------------- yes they do but NOT as a religious ritual but only for hygienic reasons to keep the fine carpets/rugs clean and tidy. If the prayer hall is not carpeted and one's shoes are clean then it's permissible to go in the mosque with shoes. It's also permissible to pray in shoes if shoes are clean (don't have impurity)
You must either take your shoes off or put on a pair of red booties the ticket official gives to you when you enter. The Taj Mahalis built on a raised area where this also a mosque one side and a identical building on the other side. Before ascending the stairs to the raised area, there is an area where you can leave your shoes or put on the booties. You leave your shoes in an unguarded area so don't wear a nice pair. The majority of locals remove their shoes and most westerners throw on the booties.
They don't. The only requirement in Judaism to wash the feet before worship, is for the Kohanim in the Holy Temple (which is no longer standing). See Exodus ch.30. It is Muslims who wash their feet before entering a mosque.
He's like sneakers o toole He's never taken his shoes off and never will
Legally you can reference: Holy Perfect Qur'an 20:12: Verily I am thy Lord! therefore (in My presence) put off thy shoes: thou art in the sacred valley Tuwa. Also in the bible Exodus 3:5 "Do not come any closer," God said. "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground." Most of the websites I've seen say that it's done because it's holy ground, and is a sign of reverence. However, my Muslim guide when I visited said it's done to protect the beautiful rugs inside from getting worn out and dirty. I suspect there's some truth to both reasons, though how much of it is each is still a question. Also, to add on to the answer above, the sole of the shoes that we walk on have may have possibly been covered with some dirty substances such as dog excretion, therefore it is farz (compulsory) that the ground we pray on must be clean of such substances, otherwise, our prayers wil not count and we must repeat it. Also, it is sunnat (the way of the prophet muhammed (s.a.w)) to take of your shoes when entering the masjid (mosque). ----------------------------- Muslims remove their shoes before entering mosque NOT as a religious ritual but only for hygienic reasons to keep the fine carpets/rugs clean and tidy. If the prayer hall is not carpeted and one's shoes are clean then it's permissible to go in the mosque with shoes. It's also permissible to pray in shoes if shoes are clean (don't have impurity)
one japenese custom is that when entering a home you must take off your shoes.
