Blood pressure should be monitored for every 6 months or it will increase the risk of stroke and heart attack because it has no symptoms. High BP can cause strain on the blood vessels that make them to clog up or to weaken. This leads to narrowed blood vessels and clots that can cause damage to heart, brain and kidney. Low BP can cause inadequate blood flow to the brain and other vital organs that leads to dizziness, nausea, light-headedness/fainting or temporary loss of consciousness.

in my opinion blood pressure should be checked so you can know when your blood pressure is rising.
Blood pressure would/should be checked in order to convey either, low, normal, or high blood pressure levels. These fundamental levels of blood pressure (low, normal, and high) have different medically related (positive or negative) effects on the brain and/or body.

Note: If you or someone you know is concerned, ask your (or a local) doctor for more details or request of them to check your blood pressure.

High blood pressure is thought (though not proven) to be a leading cause of spontaneous human combustion. By getting their pressure checked, people can take medicine to reduce blood pressure if it's too high.

Prolonged high blood pressure damages the body.

Put simply, vulnerable parts of you wear out more quickly if your system runs at too high a pressure for a long time. The heart has to pump too hard, blood vessels get damaged and the hypertensive person has a higher risk of Heart disease. Sensitive organs like the kidney suffer, so the risk of renal failure is increased. The eyes deteriorate too and the brain is vulnerable to perhaps the most devastating complication of all - stroke.

Such problems can be prevented by correct blood pressure control.

Blood pressure diseases is a silent killer you do not know you have it until you dies of a stroke or aneurysm. It is therefore necessary to regularly check your blood pressure at least once a month to see if you are developing hypertension. It applies no matter how old you are.

How low can blood pressure be and still sustain life?

The lowest blood pressure can be is debatable because a low blood pressure does not necessarily cause death. If a person has no other symptoms and has a blood pressure that is almost always 85/55, then there is no problem. However, if this blood pressure has other symptoms like fever, fainting, or other general illness, it should be checked immediately by a doctor.

Standing up dizzy?

Dizziness when standing occurs due to low blood pressure. The body is at rest and upon standing the heart needs to pump faster to supply more pressure. The dizziness is the moment leading up to when the proper blood pressure is reached. This is not normally something to be concerned about. However if it continues to happen, you should get your blood pressure checked at your doctor.
