In our culture it's done now for the fashion and a personal statement of style "The Look" Piercing is something different to every person and the reasons are just as various from a kid rebelling against the parents to and artist capturing the essence of there own personal style. Right down to Joe the biker just wanting to look a little more hard core. It is a unique means for one to express themselves now a days.
