Usually substances that are pure. For example water has a more well defined melting temp. than soda. (FYI- i totally just guessed- no research whats so ever. not at all!)

Melting points are of pure substances, not of objects made out of many, many substances. Eg. A news paper or an aeroplain don't have a melting point. Neither do batteries. But be carefull in warming them up above 50oC !!

These are substances that contain only one type of atoms/molecules. For example, diamond is a pure substance. Diamonds are made of strictly carbon atoms. Melting points and Boiling points of pure substances always remain constant !

When you add the impurities, the substance doesn't remain pure affecting the boiling point to increase because now, more energy is required to boil the liquid with impurities. Each material has specific melting point; and an alloy is not a single element.
Depends on how well you prepared it. More impurities equal a lower melting point than something pure.
