Why read a story?

What kind of a question is that, I'm not criticising here but reading is extremely important. It's a fantastic way to gain alot of knowledge. And let me tell you, there are some VERY interesting books on this planet.
I read to learn things. For instance, Singapore speaks English and uses the dollar. Yesterday I saw Mercury and Venus in the sky at the same time. To learn a variety of things, grab an almanac.

There are many good reasons to read a story. Reading makes you smarter and, as my first grade teacher said, there is no job where you don't need to read to do it. I used to HATE reading. It took too long and it seemed pointless! But, one day, I read a book and it really opened my imagination, it was like TV in my head! Now, I love it and I'm trying to be a writer.
