It's a amazing story with mangas and things like that. But the best thing is that the original series doesn't flick from character to character. It's all about Rusty/Firepaw/Fireheart/Firestar. When you read them they are very addicting ex specially the last one of the main series. So reading it would be and is very enjoying. I really do not like Scourge.
