Volatile memory is temporary memory that is lost when then computer is shut off (RAM). Non-volatile is permanent memory that that holds its data even when the computer is shut off (ROM, NVRAM). Volatile memory is memory that disappears after you turn off your computer RAM is a big example of that because all the memory on RAM disappears after you turn off your computer. Non-Volatile memory is memory that even if you turn off your computer it will still be there.
