Why does a semiconductor have fewer electrons than a conductor?

Valence electrons only are able to cross the energy gap in semiconductors since it is greater than that of conductors. That is why semiconductors have fewer free electrons than conductors.

Why are diamonds a better conductor than copper?

Diamonds are normally insulators. In some cases, diamonds can be used as conductors (more like semiconductors, really), but I doubt they would conduct better than a metal.

Which statement is true of semiconductors?

Semiconductors do not conduct current as well as conductors.

Are non metals semiconductors?

Metals are conductors. Semiconductors are usually non-metals or metalloids.

What are nonmetal that are conductors of heat and electricity?

Semiconductors

Are semiconductors noble gases?

Definitely not! Gases are not semiconductors. and the noble gases are not conductors even if frozen.

What are nonmetals that are intermediate conductors of heat and electricity?

Semiconductors

Elements that are intermediate conductors of heat and electricity?

semiconductors

What is a good example of a non insulator?

There are conductors, semiconductors and insulators. Conductors and semiconductors could be considered noninsulators, so I would say copper but if you want to use semiconductors instead you can say something like doped gallium.

Where does electric current pass?

Electric current passes through substances called "conductors", as well as "semiconductors". Conductors include all metals, and any liquid with ions in it.Electric current passes through substances called "conductors", as well as "semiconductors".
