they joined confederation because they were promised a railroad from nova scotia through to Canada west....they would get extra defense from the other province....since america just stopped free trade theyd be able to trade with the other colonies....nova scotia was totally for confederation
Why indeed. The American invasion feared did not occur, Canada eventually took Nova Scotia into a Free Trade agreement with the USA they did not want and their resources were no better protected in Confederation than out. So from a 19th century view they should join to avoid bad stuff happening but from a 21st century view it is not clear if they should remain.
PEI didn't join Confederation in 1867 because, at first, they were upset that Charlottetown was not chosen to be the capital of Canada. They thought that it should, since the Charlottetown Conference was there. Another reason was because they had such a small population, which made them think they would be swamped in the union. Since they had such a small population, they did NOT want representation by population. If the Confederation were to happen, then that would mean there would be representation by population. They would only have 6 members in the House of Commons, out of 194.
It would have to take on Canada's Debts, as well as the fact that their economy was already quite well, and they didn't really need to agree for the trade.

Joseph Howe belives that by joining the confederation, nova scotia would have little say in the federal government (18 house of common seats) and will lose ties and support with great Britain
English, with spatterings of French and Gaelic
The people of Nova Scotia reaction to confederation was... # Wrote petitions # Argued in the provincial Legislature # Contacted the British government # Some of them talked about joining United States
About 1 000 000 (1 million)
the export of nova scotia and the import is mining too!
How early do you expect? We were there at the beginning. "Canada" as a nation did not exist until Confederation in 1867, and that is when Nova Scotia officially changed from a colony of Britain to a province of Canada. The other "original" provinces were New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario.

Nova Scotia's season is just after "I think I poisoned myself" and shortly before "I didn't know it was Illegal".....
He saw many good reasons for it. It brought federalism and Nova Scotia got a railway
Nova Scotia gave the confederation more goods and the trads that other things did not have
Nova Scotia was part of the original confederation leaders and is still part of confederation. The is only one province that has talk about separation.
