I absolutely believe that there are a lot of voters who shouldn't be voting. I'm referring to the people who, for example, vote for someone because they recognize his/her name, because they think he/she is handsome/pretty, of simply because he/she is the incumbent, without really knowing anything about the person. When you see that a Congress has a very low approval rating then see over 90% of that Congress get reelected, it really seems absurd. I welcome every eligible person to vote, but PLEASE do your homework first. A good place to start is vote411 dot org. If you enter your address they can show you only the candidates that will be on the ballot in your precinct (almost). I also really love the Voters Guides prepared by The League of Women Voters.
I really believe that if more voters were informed voters, we could finally start breaking away from the status quo by electing those who sincerely have their constituents' best interest at heart.
We get the government we demand. In order to get effective government that reflects the will of the people - -the people have got to show up.
Environmental justice is the equal protection of all people with respect to environmental issues.
They should have abolished slavery and given all Americans, men, women, former slaves the right to vote. They should never have created the Electoral College. All Presidents should have been elected by popular vote.
They allowed all white men to vote. Sadly, African-Americans were still unable to vote.
all saints
Of course, this is what it is all about. The ability to vote. We vote on national policy through the election of the people who are elected by the voting. You get what you want through your vote.
The 15th Amendment.

As of November 2006, 67.6% of Americans were registeres to vote. Bluup! cited from: http://www.census.gov/prod/2008pubs/p20-557.pdf ------------ .... Didn't answer the question at all. But, for the record, no amount of googling could get me the answer either (if you are taking about pre-civil rights movement).
none Whoever said this is very rude and ignorant. The Question is not how many as in a number, All African Americans are eligible to vote, besides those who are incarcerated and have felonies.
limit the number of african americans qualified to vote
It all depends on your personal views of the issues they are talking and debating about. If you agree with the specific candidate on many things that you think are important, then this person is the one that you should vote for. Some people do not vote though because of the issues, they are against people because of their race, ethnicity, or age. You should not vote this way. You should vote for the person who you think will most help America and Americans today. I am not the legal age to vote yet but my family disagrees on almost every part of politics because that is their opinion. If I was allowed though, I would vote for Obama.
As long as they were born in the United States, or were naturalized, Hispanics (or Latinos) have never been prevented from voting in the way that Blacks and Native Americans were.
