For instance, adherents to Jewish culture are forbidden to eat the flesh of animals that are proclaimed unclean, but Christianity, an offshoot of Judaism, does not follow this cultural practice as it is seen as outdated and not applicable.
Another example of a cultural practice that was abolished (for most nations) is slavery. In previous times, the concept of slavery was acceptable as it provided labor, and put conquered populations to work that would otherwise be idle and possibly revolt against the conquerors. However, with the idea of liberty, freedom, and democracy, slavery lost favor and has been largely abolished.
