When people go to work for a big company, they have much less power than their employer, who in many cases can easily replace them, and this has in the past resulted in terrible abuse of employees who had little way to protect themselves. The creation of labor unions, and the ability of those unions to go on strike if they find it necessary, has helped to give employees more power so that they deal with employers as equals, and get fair treatment.

Shutō-uchi, as spelt in English typeface, is the Japanese word for "knifehand strike", although some stereotype it's name to the "karate chop". Shutō-uchi is not how most people would imagine the strike to look, rather than a vertical slicing movement, the movement uses the small finger and the side of the wrist the way along to horizontally drive into the target. If using your right hand, then the strike should be aimed at the right.
