It's not good for horses to overeat either but for ponies the 'margin of error' is much smaller. Ponies tend to be more susceptable to laminitis (founder). They are smaller and need less food but in their heads, they think they're a Clydesdale and they could eat themselves to death if not watched closely.
For reasons not fully understood, horses that carry a lot of weight on their front-ends tend to founder more. So if your horse carries extra weight in his neck and front-end be careful how long he spends in large pastures with lots of grass.
Ponies can do the same things that full sized horses can do so long as you make adjustments for their heights. Miniature horses should never be confused with ponies, they should never be ridden.
yes
I don't know why you need to "pick" ponies. If you are talking about the Build-a-Bear ponies, heck, get them both!

It depends on the pony really. Aussies and similar breeds should be from 700-900lbs. Shetlands and smaller ponies should range from 600-800. ;) Hope this helped.
The collective noun for ponies is a string of ponies. A string of ponies is traditional for a group of ponies owned or bred, usually for a particular purpose. That collective doesn't apply to all situations where there may be a group of ponies. Random groups of ponies could be found in many situations, a corral of ponies, a parade of ponies, a family of ponies; or even more fanciful, a pile of ponies, a party of ponies, or a plethora of ponies.
Ponies live a bit longer than horses, if they are well cared for. A pony could live to 35 or 40. The average lifespan however is 25-30. A well looked after pony can still be competing when they are 28! One of the big problems for ponies or any "easy keepers" is over feeding. An overfed animal is at risk for laminitis/founder and Cushing's disease.
Yes they are quite different because most of the overfed countries have more cancers but more of the underfed countries have more illneses
The possessive form of the plural noun ponies is ponies'.Example: The ponies' owner feeds them a special diet
